About this speaker

Sola Togun-Butler is the Founder and CEO of Butterfly Counseling Services. A mental health practice was established with the mission of making mental health services accessible and affordable. She is also an Assistant Professor and Associate Chairperson in the Human Services Department at St. Joseph’s College Brooklyn, NY. 

Sola has a Ph.D. in Education from Northcentral University, a Master’s degree in Social Work from Silberman School of Social Work, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Brooklyn College. She is a licensed clinical social worker in the state of New York, New Jersey, and Ohio. She has been in the field of social work for over 15 years and has experience in mental health, medical social work, substance abuse, foster care, gerontology, and foster care prevention. 

She is actively involved in mission work in developing countries and established the Victoria Ibironke Togun Scholarship fund to provide educational opportunities to young girls/women in developing countries. She conducts presentations challenging myths about the African Continent and published a children’s book entitled, “Where Do You Keep the Lions? An African Girl’s First Day of School in America” to teach children how to be culturally sensitive.
